Polyamides

PA6 - extruded polyamide 6

This material offers an optimal combination of mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness, mechanical damping properties and wear resistance. These properties, together with good electrical insulating properties and a good chemical resistance make PA6 a “general purpose” grade for mechanical construction and maintenance.

PA6G - cast polyamide 6

Cast nylon polyamides, commonly called nylon type PA6G, or PA6 C are manufactured in standard stock shapes and cast in the form of sheet, rod and tube. Cast nylon polyamides are highly molecular, highly crystalline polymers. Semi finished nylon type 6 shapes are manufactured using a casting method, whereby the raw material caprolactam polymerises by means of a controlled chemical reaction.

PA6G+oil - cast polyamide 6 with oil

This internally lubricated cast PA 6 is self-lubricating in the real meaning of the word. PA6G+oil developed for unlubricated, highly loaded and slow moving parts applications, yields a considerable enlargement of the application opportunities compared to standard cast PA6G. It offers a reduced coefficient of friction (up to 50% lower), considerably increasing the pressure-velocity capabilities, and a vastly improved wear resistance (up to 10 times better).

PA6G+MoS2 - cast polyamide with MoS2

Nylatron PA6G+MoS2 contains finely divided particles of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) The addition of MoS2 brings about an increase in the degree of crystallinity, lending the cast polyamide a higher degree of strength, but without any appreciable deterioration of toughness. In addition, increasing the crystallinity of this PA6G results in improved surface hardness and better abrasion properties compared to standard PA6G.

PA66+GF30 - polyamide 66 glass fiber reinforced

PA66+GF30 is a 30 % glass fibre reinforced PA66. It demonstrates outstanding mechanical properties such as higher strength, rigidity, creep strength and dimensional stability. Compared to unreinforced PA66, the properties of this glass filled modification GF30 make this material suitable for use in parts that are exposed to high static loads over long periods in high temperature conditions. As glass fibres tend in some cases to have a marked abrasive effect on mating surfaces, PA66+GF30 is less suitable for sliding applications.

PA4.6 - polyamide 4.6

Special Polyamide 4.6 offers higher rigidity and creep resistance over the entire temperature range compared to conventional polyamides. This makes it especially suitable for applications ranging from 80 to 150 degrees Celsius where it provides us with significantly higher stiffness, wear and creep resistance such as PA6G, POM-C or PET material.

PA66 - polyamide 66

Polyamide PA66 has good rigidity, hardness, abrasion resistance and thermal dimensional stability. In addition, PA66 has outstanding wear resistance and low frictional properties. It also has very good temperature, chemical, and impact properties. Users should be aware of PA66 propensity to absorb moisture which could affect dimensional stability. In fact, PA66 will tend to absorb more moisture at saturation than cast PA6G.

PA12G - cast polyamide 12

PA12G natural is a semi crystalline polyamide 12 with very high toughness and good chemical resistance, with reduced sensitivity to stress cracking. The PA12G properties include the lowest water absorption characteristics of all polyamides, which means any parts made from PA12G should remain stable in humid environments. In addition to this, PA12G also has good impact resistance, good slide friction properties, and good wear resistance. Compared to other polyamides, PA12G has one of the lowest melting points available at 180°C.
